Büchenbeuren-Scheid (dpa / lrs) - Around 1,600 prospective police officers are studying at the Rhineland-Palatinate Police College.

This has been located on the "Hahn Police Campus" for 25 years.

The course next to Hahn Airport in Hunsrück lasts three years.

In May and October, young women and men begin their job in the police force, as announced by the university in Büchenbeuren-Scheid.

The 28 hectare “Hahn Police Campus” also offers “a wide variety of training and further education opportunities” for the administrative officials and employees of around 13,000 employees of the Rhineland-Palatinate police force.

Prior to the establishment of the university on a former military site at Hahn Airport in 1996, the state's police training and further education had been based in Koblenz in the Asterstein district for more than 40 years.

The former police department of the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration with a diploma course has developed into a university with a bachelor's and master's degree.
