The ecologist MEP Karima Delli launched Friday in Lille the campaign of his list of union of the left for the regional ones, pledging not to preside "only the Hauts-de-France", after the official entry in the running for the presidential election of the outgoing regional boss, Xavier Bertrand.

"Next June, you will make me the president of the Hauts-de-France region, but the president of all Hauts-de-France, of nothing but Hauts-de-France, because for the climate, for employment, it is high time to change people's lives, ”said Karima Delli from a theater in Lille.

She was surrounded by representatives of the other components of the union list, - PS, PRG, Insoumis, Communists, Generation.

s, Génération écologie et Place publique -, to date the only one formed in France for regional groups.

One of the challenges of this "Union of the left and environmentalists" is to avoid the repetition of the scenario of the regional 2015, when the PS withdrew to avoid the victory of Marine Le Pen, leaving the RN the monopoly of the opposition to Xavier Bertrand in the hemicycle.

The voice of "popular ecology"

While Xavier Bertrand (ex-LR), candidate for his renewal, has just formalized his candidacy for the presidential election of 2022, Karima Delli pointed out that "before becoming the permanent candidate in the elections, he was Minister of Health" and had contributed to the "planned breakdown of public services", in particular at the hospital.

As regional president, he failed to provide a response to the health, social and psychological damage of the Covid-19 crisis, she said.

The 42-year-old candidate, originally from Tourcoing, who wants to be the voice of "popular ecology", promised to make youth her priority, with free regional public transport for young people and experimentation with the implementation. place of a solidarity income.

She also said she wanted to launch "the first foundations for the transformation of the industry".

Its partners for their part denounced a record, judged in trompe-l'oeil, of Xavier Bertrand in terms of employment, deploring the absence of a "real opposition" regional.

For Ugo Bernalicis, LFI deputy from the North, "the number one target is to get people to vote, and in particular those who abstain from voting."

The Socialist Senator from the North, Patrick Kanner, for his part hammered his opposition to a possible postponement of the regional, scheduled for June 13 and 20, seeing "if not a breach - the word is strong - at least a denial of democracy".
