An Indonesian sailor on a squid fishing boat was rescued after hanging on a board for two weeks after the wreck and floating in the sea.

According to Tribune News on the 27th, a sailor Muhamat Kartoyo, 18, adrift in the waters of Taka Tambora, Sulawesi, southern Indonesia, was rescued by fishermen on the afternoon of the 20th.

Muhamat had an accident off the coast of Bali on the 9th of this month while sailing from Jakarta's Muara Baru port on a fishing boat eight months ago and continuing to catch squid.

The fishing boat carrying Muhamat crashed into a passenger ship and was overturned and wrecked.

The seven sailors, including Muhamat, each held up holding a piece of board that fell off the fishing boat, but one by one disappeared into the sea and only Muhamat remained.

"My colleagues drowned one by one," he said. "I hung on a board and kept on drinking sea water from time to time."

Excluding Muhamat, only one of the six sailors was found, and five were not found.

Muhamat's family posted the rescue fact on Facebook and said, "I am grateful that I came back alive," and said, "It was rescued in a very weak state, but there is no problem with life and is gradually recovering energy."
