Potsdam (dpa / sn) - The volleyball women of the Dresdner SC have successfully started the playoff semifinals for the German championship.

The team of coach Alexander Waibl prevailed in the first game of the best-of-three series at SC Potsdam with 3: 1 (18:25, 25:17, 28:26, 25:14).

This means that the winner of the preliminary round from Saxony only needs one victory to make it to the final.

The second game will take place next Wednesday in Dresden.

If the Brandenburg women equalize, the decider will also be played in the Elbe city one day later.

The guests, who had to do without the ailing regular libera Lenka Dürr, did not find their rhythm at first.

While they made a few slight mistakes, the fourth in the preliminary round Potsdam was able to reliably score and pull away.

In the second round, Alexander Waibl's protégés stabilized mainly in block and field defense.

Led by the outstanding Swiss national player Maja Storck, the DSC fought for the set equalization.

The turning point of the game was the third round.

After a clear six point deficit, the Dresden women fought their way back, fended off two opposing set balls and used their second chance themselves.

In the fourth section, the DSC clearly dictated the action with a powerful service game, variable attacks and good defense.
