Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In the fight and entry into the final series for the German championship, the volleyball players from SSC Palmberg Schwerin celebrated the hoped-for first victory in the semi-final playoffs (best of three).
With 3: 0 (26:24, 25:20, 27:25), the team of coach Felix Koslowski prevailed on Saturday in their own hall against Allianz MTV Stuttgart and now travels with a 1-0 lead to the second game on next Wednesday at the co-favorites for the title.
Should MTV be able to equalize, the decisive third game will also take place in Stuttgart on Thursday.
The Schwerin women proved their comeback qualities in all rounds in the opening duel.
In the first set, the cup winner was able to fend off a set ball.
In the second, the SSC was already 14:17 behind, then scored five points in a row and then did not give up the lead.
The third set was similar, in which MTV was already 17:13 ahead and, like in the first round, had a set ball.
But the SSC kept their nerve, fended off this as well and then converted their second match point after around 85 minutes of play.
