In a head-on collision on the B205 near Neumünster, two people were killed and nine others were critically or seriously injured.

A van collided with another oncoming van at 1.45 a.m. on Saturday night on the main road in the south of Neumünster, the police said.

According to the information, both vehicles have Polish license plates and were fully occupied at the time of the accident.

Suddenly steered into oncoming traffic

The 40-year-old driver, who was traveling in the direction of Bad Segeberg, got into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason and collided with the second car.

The 40-year-old with Polish citizenship and his passenger were fatally injured, the four other passengers suffered life-threatening injuries.

The five people involved in the accident in the second car were also taken to hospital with serious or life-threatening injuries.

The B205 was closed in both directions until 9.45 a.m.

The property damage amounts to around 40,000 euros.

There was also a serious collision near Bremen on Friday.

In a rear-end collision on the A1 autobahn at the Bremer Kreuz junction, a truck knocked three cars into each other, causing a traffic jam that lasted for hours.

A woman and two men at the wheel of their car were injured, according to the police in the Verden district.

The accident began at around 2:10 p.m. when a truck suddenly had to brake in the dense rush hour traffic.

The three cars behind him could still brake, but not the following semitrailer of a 58 year old driver.

The truck pushed the small vehicles into one another and was unable to maneuver.

The clean-up work lasted until around 5 p.m.

Then the traffic jam only slowly dissolved.

The police estimate the damage at around 90,000 euros.
