27 March 2021 Francesco Bagnaia dominates Q2 in Qatar and takes his first pole of the 2021 season (and his first ever in MotoGP) with a clear margin over Quartararo and Vinales (almost three tenths). Fourth time for Valentino Rossi, to complete the Yamaha trio followed by the poleman. The other Ducati, that of Jack Miller, breaks the fifth time trial. In Friday's tests the Turin and the Australian had dueled at the top, spaced by a handful of thousandths.

Seventh Franco Morbidelli. Only 10th for the world champion Joan Mir, who appeared in difficulty since the second practice session on Friday. The Spaniard had to pass from Q1, where he won the right to compete in the session valid for pole, finishing second behind Nakagami.
