Berlin (dpa) - The Berlin club scene tried out the concert business in Corona times.

According to the organizers, around 70 visitors came to the sold-out pilot event on the Holzmarkt site on the Spree on Saturday evening, who had to register online beforehand, complete quick tests and wear a mask.

For the club committee, the test is “a spark of hope”.

The spokesman for the umbrella association, Lutz Leichsenring, told the German Press Agency in the evening that the procedure could be of great help in a transitional period for the clubs that were particularly hit by the Corona crisis.

“It's a transitional variant that gives us a little hope again.

Not just us, but also the people who are waiting to go to clubs again. "

There is hope that it will be possible again to hold events and bring culture to life, said Leichsenring.

The test went relatively smoothly.

Some things can still be digitized and standardized and, for example, an app can be used.

The concert itself is “an encore” to the test.

It is a step in the right direction and a sign that something is happening again behind the scenes.

"We are of good cheer," said Leichsenring.

After a forced break for months due to the virus pandemic, the first stages in Berlin have opened for a pilot project.

The Berliner Ensemble and the Philharmoniker kicked off the event last weekend.

The internationally known Berlin club scene is an important tourism and economic factor.

With exceptions in the summer, there were next to no legal parties, concerts or evenings to dance in the pandemic.
