Heilbronn (dpa / lsw) - Almost exactly four years after the murder of a 59-year-old in Löwenstein (Heilbronn district), the long round of trials against the alleged perpetrator, her husband, ends.

The verdict is to be pronounced at the Heilbronn district court today.

This is not the first time the man has been in the dock about the bloody act.

The 66-year-old was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2018.

However, the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) overturned this decision.

The German with Serbian roots is accused of checking in with his wife, who was separated from him, at the end of March 2017 when she left her workplace in a kiosk that evening.

He is said to have killed her with numerous stab wounds.

The defendant is silent.

However, he had already rejected the murder charge in the first regional court hearing.

Therefore, the chamber had to rely on minutes and witnesses.

The defense criticized the investigators' serious mistakes in the search for the perpetrator.

As early as 2018, it was criticized that the police had too quickly and unilaterally targeted the husband as the only possible perpetrator.

After the crime, the husband had been searched for in the ZDF program "Aktenzeichen XY .. unsolved".

He was arrested a good two weeks later - found through DNA traces at the crime scene.
