Since July last year, the region has offered antibody tests to the public - tests that can be booked via 1177. But in a few days it will be over.

The decision was made after the Public Health Agency went out and announced that it no longer considers that it is justified with large-scale testing of antibodies.

The Örebro County Region, like many other counties, has therefore withdrawn funding for this.

In the future, only antibody tests will be performed if there are medical reasons for a patient.

- Today, there is a good capacity for PCR sampling, ie sampling that shows if there is an ongoing infection in the body. This means that the value of antibody testing to make a diagnosis afterwards has decreased. In 2021, more people will also be vaccinated and we know that most people form antibodies after undergoing illness or vaccination, says Gunlög Rasmussen, infection control doctor in the Örebro County Region, in a press release.
