Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The Brandenburg Office for the Protection of the Constitution can for the time being continue to describe the AfD state association as a suspected right-wing extremist case.

The state constitutional court in Potsdam rejected an urgent application by the party against this classification.

In its decision of March 19, which was only published on Friday, the Constitutional Court referred to the jurisdiction of the Administrative Court.

There, too, the party had filed a lawsuit against the classification as a suspected case.

Initially, the «Tagesspiegel» reported on it.

The Brandenburg AfD was classified as a suspected right-wing extremist case by the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution last year.

Seven months after the decision, the regional association had filed two complaints in January against its observation by the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

With the lawsuits before the Constitutional Court and the Administrative Court in Potsdam, the party turns against observation by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

In addition, according to the AfD, Interior Minister Michael Stübgen (CDU) is to be prohibited from reporting on the observation of the party with an interim order.
