Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Three alleged members of a gang of car thieves were caught red-handed and arrested by the Mainz criminal police.

As the police announced on Friday, the access had already taken place in Hessen in the Darmstadt area last week.

The men aged 32, 39 and 41 have therefore been brought before the judge and are now in custody.

They are said to belong to a gang of Eastern European car thieves who were targeting high-priced cars in Rhineland-Palatinate and the Rhine-Main area.

The Mainz criminal police had been investigating since November last year.
