Iserlohn / Menden (dpa) - Smartphones, kitchen appliances and jewelry: A 43-year-old parcel service employee from Menden is said to have embezzled parcel shipments on a large scale.

During the search of his apartment, almost 200 articles with a total value of at least 75,000 euros were found, the police said on Friday.

According to internal investigations by the company from Iserlohn, the long-time police officer initially admitted that three parcels had been embezzled.

During the search of the house, the investigators discovered above all high-priced electronic items, including smartphones, robot vacuum cleaners, game consoles and notebooks, but also kitchen appliances, cutlery, jewelry and perfumes.

Among other things, the employee was responsible for loading the parcels and had access to the scan systems.

The police have started to catalog and photograph the evidence.

The rightful recipients or owners should be identified together with the parcel service provider.
