Last year, 1,500 applications for building permits were received by Lund Municipality - an increase of approximately 30 percent compared with the previous year.

And the high pressure continues.

- In the first months of this year, the same number of cases came in as last year, says Petter Eiring.

Increased number of employees

It is primarily homeowners who apply for building permits for various alterations and extensions.

- We see a pandemic effect, I think.

People have more time at home and take the opportunity to do nice things at home.

Despite an increase in the number of employees, the waiting time is several weeks longer than normal.

- Right now you have to count on ten weeks and that is what the legislator thinks is the maximum, so we are at the top.

We are working to bring it down.

In the clip above, the building permit manager in Lund, Petter Eiring, talks about the pressure on the building permit unit.
