Rüsselsheim (dpa) - The industrial engineer Georg Magel is the new CFO of the car manufacturer Opel / Vauxhall.

Magel, who studied at the Technical University of Darmstadt and has worked in management positions in the finance department at Opel for several years, will take over the office on April 1, as Opel announced on Friday in Rüsselsheim.

He succeeds Frédéric Brunet, who has been appointed CFO for the Enlarged Europe region of the parent company Stellantis.

"Georg Magel is a recognized finance and controlling expert and has played a key role in shaping Opel's financial turnaround in recent years," said Opel boss Michael Lohscheller.

He is very much looking forward to working even closer with Magel.
