It was at the beginning of October last year that an explosive charge, probably a so-called thermos bomb, detonated at an address in Biskopsgården on Hisingen in Gothenburg.

Police also found another charge nearby that had not detonated.

The police were able to make observations of a car that evening that led to arrests and that more suspects could be located.

The prosecutor has claimed that the explosions were part of a gang conflict between two rival groups, something that the defendants deny.

But during the trial, it emerged, among other things, that one of those involved searched online for the man who was shot to death in the Old Town in May last year and where the high-profile trial began on Friday.

The court, on the other hand, acquits the five from the charge of attempted murder.

The district court writes that "the risk of someone being killed, although not negligible at all, has not been significant".

All five deny the crime but some of them have made some concessions.

In addition to the bombing, they are also convicted of a number of minor crimes such as gross negligence in traffic, drunk driving and minor drug crimes.

After the explosion, several neighbors told SVT Nyheter Väst that they were not surprised by the incident.
