Berlin (dpa / bb) - Two Berlin judges will in future speak at Germany's highest administrative court.

The federal judges' election committee elected Stephanie Gamp and Gabriela Bähr, the Senate Department for Justice announced on Friday.

Justice Senator Dirk Behrendt (Greens) said the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig had two excellent judges from the capital.

He is pleased that the committee has elected two female judges from Berlin.

"Congratulations to the two colleagues."

According to the announcement, Bähr was initially a judge at the Berlin Administrative Court, and in 2009 she was appointed judge at the Higher Regional Court.

Most recently she was presiding judge at the administrative court.

Gamp was initially appointed judge at the administrative court.

After being seconded to the Berlin-Brandenburg Higher Administrative Court, she was appointed presiding judge at the Berlin Administrative Court.

Most recently she was seconded to the judicial administration.

According to the judiciary, the federal judges' election committee decides secretly with a majority of the votes cast.

It is made up of the 16 state ministers responsible for each state as well as 16 members elected by the Bundestag.
