China News Agency, Washington, March 26. Cui Tiankai, the Chinese ambassador to the United States, stated in Washington on the 25th that China's development goal is not to compete with or replace any other country. "This has never been our national strategy."

Cui Tiankai made the above remarks in an online interview with CNN.

During the interview, he focused on answering questions on the Sino-US high-level strategic dialogue, Sino-US relations, and Xinjiang-related issues.

He pointed out that the high-level strategic dialogue between China and the United States held in Anchorage was timely and useful, and deepened mutual understanding between the two sides.

"I hope this is the beginning of continued dialogue, communication and coordination between the two sides in the future."

Cui Tiankai said that China's development goal is very clear, which is to satisfy the Chinese people's growing yearning for a better life.

China’s development goal is not to compete with or replace any other country. This has never been our national strategy.

Cui Tiankai said that we are in a very different and rapidly changing world in which there are different systems and civilizations.

Dividing different camps or even building a confrontational military group is not the solution to the problem. In fact, it is the problem.

When answering questions about whether China and the United States can carry out fair competition, Cui Tiankai said that for China, open and fair competition is not a problem.

In fact, China very much supports this.

But the problem is, look at what happened between China and the United States or between the United States and the rest of the world in the past few years-Chinese companies have been discriminated against and unfairly treated, Chinese corporate executives have been detained for no reason, and some people have blatantly tried to make everything political Globalization, nationalism, and protectionism erode international rules-how do we carry out fair competition in this case?

He emphasized that in order to conduct open and fair competition, we must first correct past mistakes, otherwise the basis for our participation in this kind of competition does not exist.

Cui Tiankai said that China has always been open to international cooperation and is also committed to promoting multilateral cooperation.

But any cooperation must be based on equality, mutual benefit and mutual respect.

Western countries must learn how to treat other countries, races and civilizations equally.

Cui Tiankai pointed out that climate change is indeed a global challenge.

We are of course willing to participate in international cooperation to address climate change.

But the political climate will also affect our efforts to deal with the natural climate.

When mutual trust and mutual respect are insufficient, how can we work together to meet this global challenge?

This is unlikely.

As far as climate change is concerned, the United States and other Western countries must take action to prove their seriousness and sincerity in fulfilling their international obligations.
