The prefects of Savoie and Isère, departments placed under "enhanced surveillance" due to a strong circulation of Covid-19, have announced new restrictive measures.

In particular, shopping centers of more than 10,000 square meters will be closed.

The prefect of Savoie announced Friday the closure of shopping centers, the ban on delivery after 10 p.m. and other new restrictions to limit the circulation of the virus in this department placed the day before in "enhanced vigilance".

With an increase in the incidence rate of 30% in one week, to 288 contaminations per 100,000 inhabitants, "the consequences on the hospital are starting to be felt", and the local authorities are considering arming new intensive care beds.

Coronavirus: follow the evolution of the situation Friday March 26

To "stop there" and "do everything" not to "enter the club of departments on maximum alert", numbering 19 since Thursday evening, the prefect Pascal Bolot has decided to close shopping centers over 10,000 meters squares, which concerns five establishments in Savoie.

On March 4, the government announced the closure of these same shopping centers of more than 10,000 m2 in 23 departments, in Hautes-de-France and Ile-de-France in particular, but Savoie was not - yet - concerned.

The prefect also banned on Friday the consumption of alcohol in the streets of Chambéry and Aix-les-Bains, the ban on clearance sales, and deliveries after 10 p.m. to "avoid moments of conviviality which would last too long and which would be prolonged by deliveries".

Pascal Bolot asked the police for "strict control" of these measures, in force from Saturday.

Measures in Isère

The prefect of Isère, a department also placed under enhanced surveillance since Thursday, also announced in a press release that shopping centers of more than 10,000 m2 will no longer be able to welcome the public as of midnight Wednesday.

Alcohol consumption on public roads is now prohibited every day between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. throughout the department and from 12 p.m. in Grenoble.
