Chemnitz (AP) - The Niners Chemnitz narrowly missed their fifth home win in a row in the basketball league.

Coach Rodrigo Pastore's team lost against EWE Baskets Oldenburg on Friday with 92:98 (39:44, 82:82) after extra time.

The best Niners thrower was George King with 23 points.

Two days after the home win over Braunschweig, Chemnitz wanted to take the momentum into the game against the fourth place in the table.

After a balanced initial phase, the Pastore team fell behind at 16:23 at the end of the first quarter.

Because the Niners lost too many balls and missed throws, the deficit increased to 15 points at the beginning of the second part of the game.

With the substitution of center Filip Stanic, who celebrated his comeback after a long injury break, the game of the Saxons got better.

The Niners fought their way up again and even took the lead for a short time in the third quarter after a lay-up from King (45: 44/22.).

Then Oldenburg took control of the game again.

Especially against center and top scorer Rasid Mahalbasic, the Niners found no means on the defensive, so that the guests were ahead with 66:55 (31st) at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

But as so often this season, the newcomer showed comeback qualities this time and saved himself in extra time, in which the guests acted a little more cleverly.
