Munich (dpa / lby) - IG Metall is calling for warning strikes on Friday in all BMW plants and at many auto suppliers in Bavaria.

At BMW in Munich, Dingolfing, Landshut, Regensburg and Wackersdorf, the late shifts would end work two hours earlier, the union announced.

At several Bosch, ZF, Schaeffler, Mann + Hummel and Magna locations, employees are also called on to go on warning strikes.

IG Metall district manager Johann Horn said: "We hope the employers understand the signals from the employees."

IG Metall is calling for four percent more wages across Germany or a corresponding reduction in working hours for companies in crisis.

The employers are offering a zero round this year and wage increases that have not yet been quantified in 2022. In addition, they want to be able to automatically move away from the collective agreement in the event of poor business figures.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, the collective bargaining parties met for the sixth round of negotiations on Thursday.

In Bavaria, negotiations were postponed after the fourth round at the end of February.
