Assignment review has shown that the increased amount of rejections from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency has meant that it can take well over a year before an appeal for sickness benefit is decided in the administrative court.

Not a single one of the administrative courts in the country met the government's target of time limits regarding sickness benefits by 2020.

Minister of Justice Morgan Johansson states to Assignment review that the government closely monitors the development of processing times.

In an email via his press secretary, he writes:

"All citizens should be able to feel secure that their cases are handled efficiently.

I understand the desire to be informed as soon as possible ”

.

"Resource addition already for the summer"

The Administrative Court in Uppsala is the slowest in the country in achieving the government's goal that 75 percent of the cases must be decided within six months.

Instead, the goal is reached only after 21.3 months.

Anna Maria Åslundh-Nilsson, lawyer at the Administrative Court in Uppsala, tells SVT Nyheter Uppsala that more resources are needed to meet the increased number of cases that have come in recent years.

- There is a certain limit to how much faster you can run, she says.

According to the Minister of Justice, it can now become a reality.

Morgan Johansson writes in his email:

“We are currently looking at meeting the increased influx of targets with additional resources already this summer.

Basically, however, the Swedish Courts Administration has good finances. ”
