Munich (dpa) - Does an alternative practitioner have to pay a five-year-old boy compensation for pain and suffering because his mother died of cancer?

The Higher Regional Court (OLG) will probably decide on Thursday (8.55 a.m.).

The father is demanding a total of 170,000 euros in damages and compensation for pain and suffering from his partner's alternative practitioner - because she is said to have advised her to forego conventional medical treatment even though she was suffering from cervical cancer.

The alternative practitioner who had treated her patient with preparations made from snake venom, so-called Horvi preparations, denies this.

The Regional Court of Passau had dismissed the lawsuit, the plaintiff appealed against the judgment.

At the beginning of the process at the Higher Regional Court in May 2020, the presiding judge Thomas Steiner appealed to the parties to the dispute to come to an agreement.

Because the agreement did not come about, the court has to decide now.
