Erlangen (dpa) - The medical technology group Siemens Healthineers has obtained 2.34 billion euros on the capital market for the Varian acquisition.

In the capital increase, the 53 million new shares were sold for 44.10 euros each in an accelerated placement process to institutional investors, as Siemens Healthineers announced on Thursday night.

Around 16.2 percent of the placement volume went to the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA).

Siemens Healthineers intends to use the money to repay part of the loan that the parent company provided to him for the purchase of the US cancer specialist Varian.

Siemens Healthineers said further shares are not to be placed for the Varian purchase.

It is the second capital increase for the takeover; in September Siemens Healthineers had already raised almost 3 billion euros for the 16 billion US dollar acquisition.

Siemens Healthineers announced the corporate action on Wednesday evening.

In an initial reaction, the Siemens Healthineers share on the Tradegate trading platform fell by almost three percent in the evening, after which it curbed its losses somewhat.
