Heidenheim (dpa / lsw) - Captain Marc Schnatterer sees the three games after the international break as crucial for the remainder of the season for the second division soccer team 1. FC Heidenheim.

"I think afterwards you will know whether we can annoy the teams upstairs a bit or whether it is simply a matter of achieving a very good placement in the top third," said the 35-year-old of the German press agency.

Before the games against the promotion candidates SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Holstein Kiel as well as at Hannover 96 within nine days, the team of coach Frank Schmidt finished seventh.

The third of the previous season is eight points behind the promotion relegation rank, but still the duel with Kiel as a catch-up game.

Schnatterer considers the chances that Heidenheim can still intervene in the promotion battle to be low.

"You have to wait and see how much Corona still has its fingers in the game," said the offensive player.

"But I think the front four teams will make it up among themselves."

VfL Bochum is ahead of Hamburger SV, Fürth and Kiel.
