Mindelheim (dpa / lby) - After the vaccination ultimatum of the Bavarian Teachers' Association (BLLV), the former Bavarian Minister of Economics, Franz Josef Pschierer, sharply attacked teachers in the Free State.

"Even if I am now reproaching myself: We have some of the most expensive, but not always the best and most hard-working teachers," wrote the CSU member of the state parliament from Mindelheim in Swabia on Thursday on his Facebook page.

Education Minister Michael Piazolo (Free Voters) described Pschierer's attacks on the teaching staff as "unjustified blanket criticism".

Pschierer referred to the demand of the BLLV at the beginning of the week, which has already been criticized by several members of the state government.

"For me, this ultimatum is simply outrageous," wrote Pschierer, who is also chairman of the CSU's SME Union.

In a “fire letter”, the BLLV demanded that all teachers in Bavaria must have received a vaccination offer on the first day of school after the upcoming Easter break.

"Those who have not received a vaccination offer can only offer distance training," says the letter to Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU).

Education Minister Michael Piazolo (Free Voters) had rejected the demand of the association on Tuesday: “It caused head shaking in the whole state government that the attempt was started by the BLLV to change the vaccination sequence via an ultimatum.

Because that is it: It is an attempt to come up in the vaccination sequence, ”said the minister after a cabinet meeting.

However, Piazolo also distanced himself from Pschierer's verbal attack.

"During the pandemic, the teaching staff in Bavaria accepted many new tasks and did an excellent job," emphasized the minister.

Pschierer had stated in his Facebook entry that teachers had special privileges: “Civil servant status, non-dismissal, best health care with head physician treatment, lavish pensions and 70 vacation days.

One should actually be able to be satisfied with that.

No!

You are not. "

He was "almost inclined" to repeat the quote from former SPD Chancellor Gerhard Schröder about teachers, said Pschierer, referring to a well-known statement by Schröder before his chancellorship.

In 1995, as the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, Schröder said in an interview with schoolchildren about teachers: "You know exactly what kind of lazy sacks they are."

Last year, Schröder had withdrawn the allegation about teachers and described it as "excessive".

Pschierer's SPD colleague Margit Wild commented on his statements on Facebook as “shameful and unworthy”.

Other users of the network also attacked the 64-year-old Christian socialite.

"Pity!

I would like to see more differentiation from you », wrote a user who says she is a teacher herself.

Jürgen Böhm, the chairman of the Bavarian Realschule Teachers Association, called it a "scandal" how teachers are currently being "publicly pilloried".

"To lump all teachers and their representatives here in one pot is not correct and also highly dubious," he said.

However, Böhm also called the BLLV demand “a questionable ultimatum from a single teachers' association”.
