The condition of the Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny has deteriorated since he was sent to a penal colony ten miles from Moscow, reports Swedish Radio Ekot.
His defense lawyers have tried unsuccessfully to see him.

Navalny's lawyer, Olga Michailova, warned on Wednesday that her client was suffering from severe back pain and that he lost the feeling in his leg this week.
Olga Mikhailova also stated that she was not allowed to visit Navalny in the concentration camp outside Moscow, where he is serving his prison sentence.
At the same time, Navalny's wife, Julia Navalnaya, is said to have left Russia for a visit to Germany.
