Bützow (dpa / mv) - A fire destroyed a house in downtown Bützow (Rostock district) and damaged at least two other buildings.

As a police spokesman said on Thursday in Rostock, two families had to get to safety from the fire on Wednesday evening.

A person came to a clinic as a precautionary measure with suspected slight smoke poisoning.

The damage has so far been estimated at around 100,000 euros.

According to previous investigations, the fire broke out in the roof structure of an old town house.

The residents fled.

The flames also struck an adjacent apartment building and a department store warehouse on the other side before firefighters could extinguish them.

The residents of the destroyed fire house stayed with friends.

The second family went back to their house after the fire was extinguished.

The cause of the fire is unclear.
