Finnentrop (dpa / lnw) - In Finnentrop (Olpe district), a wood processing company caught fire on Thursday night.

Wood chips in an open hall had caught fire for a previously unknown cause, said the fire department.

The nearby railway line from Siegen to Hagen was initially closed.

According to initial findings, there were no injuries.

The hours of extinguishing work have now ended, but the fire brigade is still on site, said a police spokesman from Olpe.

The cause of the fire is now being investigated by experts.

The amount of property damage has not yet been determined.

The emergency services were alerted around 4:30 a.m. that night.

Upon arrival, an open hall with wood chips was on fire.

An excavator and two trailers were also stored under the collapsed roof.

More than 100 forces were reportedly involved in the extinguishing work, it said.

The German Red Cross (DRK) and the Technical Relief Organization (THW) were also on site to provide support.

The fire brigade was able to quickly build a water supply via the nearby Lenne River to contain the flames.
