Chinanews.com reported on the website of the Chinese Embassy in Germany on March 25. The Chinese side took note of the statement made by some members of the German Bundestag on March 24 and solemnly stated the following position:

The EU sanctioned China on March 22 under the pretext of the so-called "human rights issue in Xinjiang", which was based solely on lies and false information and openly interfered in China's internal affairs. China firmly opposed this, never accepted, and had to respond firmly.

China's decision to impose sanctions on individual individuals and entities in Europe is entirely because they have long listened to, spread false information, and even maliciously fabricated lies, seriously damaging China's sovereignty and interests.

China’s sanctions have nothing to do with the identity, profession, freedom of speech, and parliamentary democracy.

We believe that no identity or freedom rights should constitute a reason for slandering, attacking and suppressing other countries and interfering in other countries’ internal affairs.

Parliamentarians must also be bound by laws and basic norms of international relations.
