To stop the progression of the coronavirus, the president of the Ile-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse, proposed to the prefect to bring the spring vacation forward by two weeks, his entourage announced on Wednesday, confirming information from
Paris Match .
"We must slow down" the epidemic, "but we do not have many brakes," said Valérie Pécresse to the weekly.
"More than a hundred classes are closed" in Ile-de-France
"I wonder if the right measure would not be to bring the school holidays forward by 15 days in order to close the schools from April 2," she added.
Spring holidays are set this year from April 17 to May 3 in Ile-de-France.
Indeed, "the health situation remains very worrying", it was said in the entourage of Valérie Pécresse, specifying that in the high schools of the region "more than a hundred classes are closed" as well as "two establishments ”.
In addition, "we have not succeeded in putting people back into telework," lamented Valérie Pécresse to Paris Match.
Less frequentation in public transport
Thus the frequentation of public transport in the region remains at 45%, against 53-55% before the toughening of measures in Ile-de-France on Saturday.
By way of comparison, this attendance fell 30-35% during the October reconfinement.
In Ile-de-France, according to figures stopped on Saturday, the incidence rate has soared to 551 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the last seven days, well above the maximum alert threshold of 250.
