French skater Maé-Bérénice Méité suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in the first seconds of her short program on the first day of the World Championships, Wednesday in Stockholm.

Barely 30 seconds after starting his short program, Méité fell on a triple toe loop attempt.

When she got up, she could no longer lean on her left leg and was unable to continue her performance.

She left the ice in tears after having somehow reached the edge of the track.

A few minutes later, the International Skating Federation (ISU) formalized his forfeit due to "an injury during a fall on a triple toe loop".

It is the French Federation of Ice Sports (FFSG) which clarified the diagnosis in the early evening on social networks.

Méité was the only French skater competing in the ladies' event.

His package implies that the France team will not obtain an Olympic quota for the Beijing Games in the ladies' event at the end of the 2021 Worlds, which will deliver the bulk.

A possible qualification will go through a final selective competition, the Nebelhorn Trophy, in Germany, at the start of the next school year.
