Hoppstädten-Weiersbach (dpa / lrs) - According to the police, a fire in a building on the Trier University of Applied Sciences caused damage of around 100,000 euros.

As the police announced on Wednesday, the fire probably broke out in a technical room late Tuesday evening.

The fire could be extinguished quickly and there was no danger to the population at any time.

The fire broke out in an office building on the so-called environmental campus in Hoppstädten-Weiersbach (Birkenfeld district), an external location of the Trier University of Applied Sciences.

The exact cause is now being investigated by fire investigators, the police said.
