The government said Wednesday that the Chantilly estate, in the Oise, would benefit from aid of 4.5 million euros.

At the end of January, the general administrator of the domain, Christophe Tardieu had called on the State for help, stressing that the 2020 closures had caused five to six million euros in losses.

The state has decided to grant "exceptional" aid of 4.5 million euros to the Chantilly area (Oise), to deal with the consequences of the health crisis, the government said on Wednesday.

"The health crisis has led to a very significant drop in the estate's revenues (ticketing, privatization of the site, shops). However, its very particular public status, linked to the fact that it was bequeathed by the Duke of Aumale to the 'Institut de France, does not make it eligible for measures from which private-law patrimonial structures have benefited ", such as partial unemployment for its 132 employees, explain the Ministries of Economy and Culture in a joint press release.
