Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Former tournament winner Laura Siegemund and long-time Fed Cup player Andrea Petkovic have received wild cards for the high-class WTA tournament in Stuttgart.

In addition to the three-time Grand Slam tournament winner Angelique Kerber, at least three German tennis players will be in the main field of the clay court event from April 19 to 25.

Seven from the top ten in the world rankings have registered, as the organizers announced on Wednesday.

The Japanese Australian Open winner Naomi Osaka will not come to Stuttgart after all.

The number two in the world does not want to start their European clay court season until May.

In 2020, the Stuttgart tournament, like most of the tennis events planned in Germany, was canceled.

This time there are no spectators in the hall due to the coronavirus pandemic.
