Munich (dpa / lby) - Due to the corona pandemic, the standard period of study at Munich's universities is being extended again.

The Bavarian State Parliament decided on the corresponding change in the Bavarian Higher Education Act on Tuesday in the second reading, as announced by the Ministry of Science.

After the 2020 summer semester and 2020/2021 winter semester, the 2021 summer semester will not count towards the standard period of study either.

"Our students shouldn't have to worry about student loans or regular semester-related deadlines and deadlines," said Science Minister Bernd Sibler (CSU).

The change therefore provides that dates and deadlines in connection with the subject semester and the standard period of study are automatically postponed by one semester.

Among other things, this means that student loans can be drawn for longer.
