Munich (dpa / lby) - After renewed riots during demonstrations against the applicable corona measures, the Bavarian Police Union (GdP) has called for an “assembly lockdown”.

"We all know that such demonstrations are inviting to acts of violence, injuries and violations of the infection control rules," said the GdP on Wednesday.

Similar scenes would also be feared on the coming weekend and on the Easter weekend.

Under these conditions, demonstrations should no longer take place in times of the pandemic.

In Kassel, according to the police, more than 20,000 people took to the streets against Corona containment measures on Saturday.

6000 participants were admitted.

Many demonstrators did not adhere to the requirement to wear mouth and nose protection.

Violent clashes broke out during an illegal march.
