Delmenhorst (dpa) - Out of anger about the Corona rules, a 30-year-old man is said to have carried out an arson attack on the town hall of Delmenhorst in Lower Saxony.

The police announced on Wednesday that the suspected perpetrator was first questioned.

In addition to the fire experts from the police, the state security responsible for political crime are also investigating.

Other motives would also be examined.

The public prosecutor's office in Oldenburg will decide in the course of the day on the suspect's remand.

According to the information, the man had thrown several bottles prepared as Molotov cocktails through a broken window in the town hall on Tuesday evening at around 10.30 p.m.

Two witnesses held the man until the police arrested him.

The flames were quickly extinguished, only one room was damaged.

According to initial investigations, the 30-year-old has not yet appeared under criminal law, the police said.

However, the city of Delmenhorst is conducting several fine proceedings against him because he is said to have violated the Corona regulation.
