Kornwestheim (dpa / lsw) - In what is now the fifth attempt, employers and the union want to bring movement into the hitherto deadlocked collective bargaining for the metal and electrical industry.

Both sides will meet on Wednesday (11.00 a.m.) for further talks in Kornwestheim near Stuttgart.

The four previous rounds of negotiations had not brought any rapprochement.

After their meeting two weeks ago, IG Metall and Südwestmetall had at least decided to set up a group of experts to discuss points that were particularly significant, but also particularly controversial, for the southwest.

IG Metall has already emphasized that it would be able to increase the pressure on warning strikes if nothing moves in the negotiations before Easter.

According to the union, more than 167,000 workers have so far participated in various warning strikes.

IG Metall is demanding, among other things, four percent more money - either in the form of wage increases or as at least partial compensation if a company reduces working hours in a crisis.

Südwestmetall rejects this and instead calls for special collective bargaining benefits to be cut.

The union does not want to go along with that.
