Traini, then 28, claimed responsibility for the shooting, saying he wanted to avenge the crime of Pamela Mastropietro.

The 'Lupo di Macerata' in October 2018 was sentenced in first instance, with an abbreviated rite, to 12 years for the crimes of massacre aggravated by racial hatred and abusive carrying of a weapon.

Conviction later confirmed on appeal in 2019.

For the judges of the first criminal section, that of Traini is a "crime of extreme gravity" committed by a person of "very strong social danger" and for this reason, the judges wrote in the reasons, the "risk of recidivism resulting from the persistent lack of understanding of the facts ".



Defense Traini: "No massacre aggravated by racial hatred"

No massacre aggravated by racial hatred: thus the defense of Luca Traini, in today's hearing in Cassation, returned to challenge the accusatory framework against the accused, convicted in the judgments of merit at 12 for having wounded, on February 3, 2018, 6 North Africans saying that they acted to avenge the death of Pamela Mastropietro.
