Leipzig (dpa / sn) - For security reasons, the Leipzig Opera has canceled the premiere of the production “Norma” by Vincenzo Bellini planned for March 28th.
Rehearsals and performances could currently not be sufficiently medically secured, the theater announced on Wednesday with regret.
Corona rapid tests, which were ordered but not delivered to protect the ensemble, guests and employees, were missing.
That jeopardizes the continued compliance with the strict hygiene rules.
"In view of the acute situation, we have to be particularly careful," said Artistic Director Ulf Schirmer.
"Without sufficient rapid tests, I will no longer risk joint stage rehearsals."
The house is still closed, but «plays» online on its homepage - but the «Norma» live stream is also canceled.
