The municipality of Karlstad judged that the adventure playground that is being built on Skutberget and which is partly located within a beach protection area, did not need a beach protection exemption.

However, the County Administrative Board made a different assessment and referred the matter back to the municipality.

An application for a beach protection exemption was then made by the Technical and Property Administration, at the same time as the municipality appealed the county administrative board's decision.

Exemption is granted

On Wednesday, the issue was discussed in the city building administration, which now decides to grant an exemption for the construction.

"The City Planning Administration makes the assessment that an exemption from beach protection can be granted as it meets a general need and complements the area in accordance with the master plan," the City Planning Administration wrote in an official letter prior to the decision.

An exemption from beach protection takes effect three weeks after the decision is received by the county administrative board, provided that the county administrative board does not decide to review the city planning board's decision.
