Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The Brandenburg AfD parliamentary group has demanded the presence of Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) for the debate on the new corona rules.

Woidke originally wanted to report to the state parliament on the latest resolutions of the federal and state governments on Wednesday morning.

The President of the State Parliament, Ulrike Liedtke, initially postponed the point because Woidke was also taking part in another round of federal and state heads of government at the same time.

Because this round was over in the afternoon and Woidke was not yet in the state parliament, the AfD wanted to summon him.

The parliamentary manager of the AfD parliamentary group, Dennis Hohloch, said that the prime minister had to answer questions from the state parliament.

"It is not at all understandable why Mr. Woidke has not been here in the state parliament a long time ago."

Thereupon the parliamentary managing director of the CDU parliamentary group, Steeven Bretz, suggested that the state parliament presidium discuss the progress of the state parliament session.

The summoning became superfluous: A short time later, Woidke was in the state parliament.

Parliament's rules of procedure state that every member of the state government is obliged to attend at least one fifth of the members present upon request.

The AfD provides 23 of the 88 MPs (around 26 percent).
