Emden (dpa / lni) - At Volkswagen, IG Metall's warning strikes started after the fourth round of talks about a new house tariff.

According to the union, the production lines at the VW plant in Emden stood still for two hours in the morning shift on Wednesday.

In the late shift there should be another two-hour warning strike.

Members of the negotiating committee reported to the employees in more than 100 individual rounds of talks on the status of the collective bargaining talks, said the first authorized representative of IG Metall Emden, Franka Helmerichs.

A VW spokeswoman confirmed the temporary standstill of the belts.

Further campaigns were announced at the light commercial vehicle headquarters in Hanover and at the Salzgitter plant.

"With the warning strikes today, the colleagues clearly show their displeasure with the employer's behavior," said the union.

On Tuesday, Volkswagen presented a long-requested tariff offer - from the perspective of IG Metall, however, it is insufficient.

The company agreed to make a one-off payment of 250 euros to the more than 120,000 employees at the West German locations in the first half of 2021 and a 1.2 percent increase in salaries in the coming year.

Overall, the collective agreement should extend until mid-2023.

In addition, instead of the previous performance component, employees are to receive a standard special payment of 1,800 euros per year.
