He had been actively wanted for a week after the shooting on Wednesday in the Cleunay district of Rennes which claimed the life of a 22-year-old Chechen boy.

Suspected of being the accomplice of the alleged perpetrator of the fatal shots, a man, born in 2001, was arrested Tuesday evening in the Breton capital by the territorial direction of the judicial police before being taken into custody , indicates this Wednesday the public prosecutor of Rennes in a press release.

The shooting broke out early Wednesday afternoon in front of the small Carrefour City shopping center in the Cleunay district, southwest of Rennes.

After a verbal altercation, a man had fired shots at a group of young people gathered in front of the store, known to be a major place of dealings.

Two brothers aged 22 and 24 were injured.

Hit in the head, the youngest died Thursday.

The 21-year-old alleged perpetrator was arrested by police not far from the scene of the shooting.

Another individual who accompanied him had managed to escape.

The suspected shooter indicted for organized gang murder

On Friday, the young man suspected of being the author of the shootings was indicted for "organized murder" and "attempted murder in an organized gang".

Placed in pre-trial detention, he faces life imprisonment.

The accused is already well known to the courts with several references to his record, in particular for acts of carrying a weapon, violence and trafficking in narcotics.
