March 23, 2021 #VaccinEquity "is the challenge launched by WHO." We continue to fight for equal access to vaccines, "said Hans Kluge, the World Health Organization (WHO) regional director for Europe.

One number for everyone: 8.8%.

This is "the percentage of people in 46 countries in the WHO European region who have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine to date".

Kluge via Twitter released the data from the 'Vaccine Program Monitor' highlighting: "There are 82 million people".

So there is still a long way to go to cover.

And, adds Kluge, "everywhere, basic social and health measures remain the cornerstone of the response" against Covid-19.

"Vaccines alone cannot solve the pandemic. Anti-contagion measures continue to play an important role."

The WHO Director General

The Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) also spoke on the issue of equality , Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus: "The inequalities between the number of vaccines administered in rich countries and that administered in poor countries is growing and becoming more grotesque every day. The unequal distribution of vaccines for Covid-19 is not just an outrage from the point of view. from a moral point of view but it is also counterproductive from an economic and epidemiological point of view ”.
