He was not yet officially a candidate although there was little doubt.

Vice-president of the Brittany region in charge of the environment, water, biodiversity and climate, Thierry Burlot had planned to formalize the news at the end of the week.

But the socialist president of the region Loïg Chesnais-Girard got ahead of him on Monday evening.

"Thierry Burlot has just announced to me his candidacy for the regional elections," he said in a statement.

In the process, Loïg Chesnais-Girard "took the decision to withdraw his delegations", believing that "the Bretons and the Bretons deserve clarity and frankness".

It will be supported by LREM, UDI and Modem

Member of the socialist majority within the regional council, Thierry Burlot will therefore face his president in the elections to be held on June 13 and 20.

Candidate without a label, the current president of the French Biodiversity Office will leave with the support of LREM, UDI and Modem.

At the beginning of March on the antenna of France 3 Bretagne, he had called for "the largest possible gathering".

"Some socialists or ex-socialists could join me, some environmentalists could be partisan," said this close to Jean-Yves Le Drian.
