Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Southwest (BWIHK) has criticized the latest corona resolutions by the federal and state governments and continues to urge a move away from the number of infections as a decisive benchmark for the opening or closing of many shops and businesses.

It is "very disappointing that after more than a year with Corona only the lockdown is used again as a core instrument for fighting pandemics," said BWIHK President Wolfgang Grenke on Tuesday in Stuttgart.

It cannot be that only the seven-day incidence will continue to decide whether entire industries will come to a standstill.

Grenke: “We now need a change in strategy towards a bundle of indicators in order to finally record the infection process in a more differentiated manner.

Otherwise our dealers and service providers will only be able to earn their own money for a short time in the future. "

On the subjects of vaccination, testing and follow-up, a lot of time had already been lost through lengthy discussions.

«We urgently need the political will to allow innovative opening concepts in order to be able to quickly transfer the results to the general public.

Regular testing is a building block here as a transition to an adequate vaccination offer. "

The use of corona rapid tests has so far been rather the exception in Baden-Württemberg companies.

A BWIHK survey of 935 companies published on Monday found that only 19 percent of the companies surveyed use rapid tests.

After all, 27 percent want to start such tests shortly.

However, the survey is not representative.

The federal and state governments decided on Tuesday night to send the country into the sharpest lockdown since the pandemic began a year ago.

From April 1st to 5th inclusive, i.e. from Maundy Thursday to Easter Monday, public, economic and private life is to be largely shut down.

The lockdown will be extended until April 18th.
