Berlin (dpa) - In supermarkets and discounters, customers and operators have to be prepared for a larger rush on the Wednesday and Saturday before Easter.
The reason is the planned closure of the retail trade on Maundy Thursday by the federal and state governments.
It is part of the resolutions for additional days of rest around Easter in order to slow the spread of the corona pandemic.
"Customers can rely on the fact that the supply of goods is secure and that they will be able to shop safely on Easter Saturday in compliance with hygiene rules," announced the Rewe Group on Tuesday.
Wherever possible, however, customers should use the days before Maundy Thursday to shop.
Pick-up services and delivery services offer alternatives to shopping in the market.

From Maundy Thursday to Easter Monday, people are called to stay at home.
Gatherings are forbidden.
The trade, on the other hand, demands that all shops be reopened and that hygiene concepts are strictly adhered to.
In the non-food trade, the lockdown, which has been going on for three months, is leaving deep marks.
A good every second retailer of clothing, shoes and leather goods see themselves in danger of bankruptcy.
“After a year with Corona, the situation at many retailers is desperate, in many places there is no longer any hope of being able to survive this crisis economically
