Wolfsburg / Stuttgart (dpa) - Porsche manager Gernot Döllner will succeed Michael Jost as head of strategy in the VW Group on May 1.

The company confirmed the change on Tuesday after Jost announced his withdrawal a good two weeks ago.

Döllner already worked at the profitable subsidiary Porsche, among other things, in the product strategy, until 2018 the trained mechanical engineer was also responsible for the Panamera luxury sedan.

His predecessor Jost is considered to be a co-architect of important future projects such as the global expansion of e-mobility in new model generations or more networking in the car.

He had previously also managed the alignment of the Group's core brand and the Czech subsidiary Skoda.

According to his own website, Jost wants to devote himself to the development of “smarter” yachts and now also work more from home.

In addition to his overarching strategy function, Döllner will be head of the General Secretariat at VW.

The previous incumbent Jürgen Rittersberger will go to Audi in Ingolstadt in April, where he will succeed Arno Antlitz - the new CFO of the entire group.
